December, 2004 Show 'n Tell

Here's pictures from our annual December "Bring 'n Brag meeting" (they tell me 'Show And Tell' is for younger folk). Click on any 'thumbnail' picture to see a full size version. Also, should you want a copy of one of these pictures, contact the webmaster and we'll email you a file with the full sized picture. These images have been optimized so they're easy to view and load quicker.

Thanks to all the members that brought projects to display and for the excellent presentations and discussions. These sessions always help us get ideas and additional methods. Welcome also to our new members and visitors - I believe this was the first time visitors brought projects.

Dave Albers brought several sets of Shaker Boxes, including one that included an extra box (most sets are 5 boxes) Sam Bishop brought his first project, a quilt rack he started in Florida and applied the finish back here in Midland

Tim Dupuis brought a chest and a pepper mill Herb Geiger has been working on his chip carving and brought in 2 sample crosses that he's completed.

Jon Horton brought in 2 projects that he called "simple" (but elegant), a box and a (kitchen) book cabinet Mike McFarland brought in a jewelry box he'd built for a granddaughter, as well as a game table

Dale Meier brought in some fascinating examples of turning using exotic woods, including new examples of his segmented bowls.
Herb Pfundt brought in his "mistakes" Shaker bentwood chair. This slightly smaller model was made using pieces that had been "mistakes" on other chairs he's built. Bob Simmons no longer had the projects he wished to display, so he made up a poster board showing pictures of the completed (and sold) projects - a crib and toy trucks (banks).

Don Sundquist built a slate topped table using a variety of techniques as an exercise, based on project from Fine Woodworking. Our visitors, who have a fretwork operation in Freeland, presented some samples of their scroll saw work - a Ten Commanments plaque and a wildlife scene.
